About the Organization: Feeding the Gulf Coast (FTGC) serves 24 counties spanning South

Alabama, South Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle. In 2025, the food bank distributed 37 million meals through more than 800 community partners throughout its service area. Beyond food distribution, the food bank operates multiple hunger relief and nutrition programs, including child and senior nutrition programs, benefits outreach, nutrition education, and disaster relief.

Summary:

This role is responsible for developing and implementing integrated marketing, communications, and digital fundraising initiatives and supporting grant development activities that increase community engagement and advance Feeding the Gulf Coast’s communications and fundraising goals. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, this position serves as a key member of the Development & Marketing team, helping manage day-to-day communications, create consistent and compelling content across multiple channels, strengthen the organization’s brand, expand its visibility, and generate revenue. Through strong writing, storytelling, collaboration, audience engagement, and performance analysis, the Specialist helps communicate the impact of Feeding the Gulf Coast’s work and advance the organization’s marketing, communications, digital fundraising, and grant goals.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Marketing and Communications

  • Support the planning and coordination of external communications in collaboration with the Development & Marketing team to promote special events, fundraising initiatives, cause-marketing campaigns, food bank programs, and disaster relief efforts.
  • Collaborate with program departments to ensure Feeding the Gulf Coast’s programs,activities, impact, and hunger-related issues are represented accurately and effectively to the public.
  • Create, manage, and distribute content across social media, email, website, print, andother communication channels, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging, brand standards, and strategic goals.
  • Maintain the organization-wide content calendar in collaboration with internal teams, ensuring communications are timely, coordinated, and aligned with annual departmental priorities and brand standards.
  • Write and publish compelling content for social media, blog articles, email, website pages, impact and grant reports, and other communication materials.
  • Monitor, moderate, and respond to social media comments and messages promptly and professionally to foster positive community engagement, routing requests for assistance and escalating sensitive, confidential, or other concerns to leadership as appropriate.
  • Research communications, fundraising, social media, and audience-engagement trends to strengthen messaging and improve digital performance.
  • Help maintain Feeding the Gulf Coast’s brand, promoting consistent messaging and ensuring organization-wide adherence to the brand guide.
  • Organize and maintain the food bank’s digital asset library, including photographs, video, graphics, templates, releases, and archived communications materials

Fundraising, Grants, and Community Engagement

  • Develop and execute digital fundraising campaigns through online donation pages,email, social media, and other digital platforms to support donor acquisition, renewal, retention, engagement, and revenue goals.
  • Collaborate across departments to gather accurate program information, outcomes,testimonials, photographs, and other documentation needed for grant proposals and reports.
  • Support the Grants Manager to research funding opportunities and prepare compelling grant narratives, applications, budgets, and supporting documents for timely submission.
  • Assist with post-award grant tracking and documentation in collaboration with the GrantsManager and appropriate program staff.
  • Develop presentations and supporting materials for current and prospective funders.
  • Ensure grant recognition and communications requirements, including required social media and digital acknowledgments, are fulfilled.
  • Coordinate and implement community outreach and engagement opportunities and events, including peer-to-peer campaigns, fundraisers, event promotion, event logistics, and cause marketing campaigns.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace. Extensive experience with social media platforms, email marketing systems, website content management systems, digital fundraising platforms, project-management tools, and graphic design or digital content tools is preferred

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or four to six years related experience and/or training; orequivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver’s license with driving record that meets company insurance requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to create content for different audiences, platforms, and communication goals.
  • Ability to analyze performance data and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned projects, and collaborate across departments.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, brand consistency, and quality.
  • Ability to represent Feeding the Gulf Coast professionally with donors, funders, partners, and the public.

Pay: $48,000.00 per year
