POSITION SUMMARY
Feeding South Florida’s® Home Delivery Driver will assist with the implementation of Feeding South Florida’s Home Delivery Programs with the delivery/unloading of product to homebound senior clients. The Home Delivery Driver will play a key role in vehicle maintenance and maintaining Quality Control standards of product being transported. The Home Delivery Driver must enjoy meeting, interacting with, and showing appreciation to customers – both internal and external. This position requires enthusiastic interaction with the public and co-workers.
COMPENSATION: $16.50 - $21.50 per hour
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver food / grocery items and meals to clients.
Track all client assistance and client signatures electronically via tablets with FSF’s software Oasis Insight.
Inspect, operate, and maintain vans and equipment in a clean, professional, safe, and secure manner in accordance with company, USDOT, FLDMV, FMCSA, and OSHA standards.
Comply with all company safety policies and report all unsafe conditions to management.
Follow monitoring and reporting procedures to ensure applicable regulatory standards are met.
Comply with all Feeding South Florida and Feeding America policies and procedures involving safe food handling, salvage guidelines, inventory control and distribution procedures.
Proactively communicate with appropriate stakeholders (i.e. clients and FSF internal departments) associated with each daily task and provide update on conditions to help improve programs.
Troubleshoot opportunities as they arise – electronically track change of addresses/phone numbers, missed deliveries, etc.
Always transport food items under sanitary conditions, complying with safe food handling regulations, paying attention to proper temperature.
Establish positive relationships with clients and FSF internal departments.
Assist with loading and unloading of product.
Inspect product for contamination, damage, or other signs of unsafe handling and storage.
Operate equipment under all legal driving rules and maintain safe driving.
Assist with warehouse functions and operation of equipment as necessary.
Assist management and food bank activities as necessary.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
High school Diploma
Possession of a valid and clean driver’s license
Minimum of four (4) years driving experience
Ability to successfully complete training related to the safe handling of food products
Effectively organize, prioritize tasks, completing assignments accurately and in a timely manner
Current registration in the FMCSA clearinghouse is preferred
Capable of following directions, working under pressure, and meeting deadlines
Strong work ethic including the ability and desire to take initiative
Sensitivity to diverse populations with the ability to exercise discretion while serving people in a compassionate, patient, friendly, and courteous manner
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including grammar, spelling, and math
Ability to prepare written reports accurately.
Positive attitude, flexibility, and a commitment to working collaboratively
Bilingual preferred (English and Spanish, Creole, Portuguese, or Russian)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation: Organization hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., this position will work additional hours throughout the year, especially during peak times such as holiday seasons, and disaster response.
Environment: This position works in various settings, including an office setting, warehouses, and in the field, occasionally in inclement weather. Must be able to work with varying periods of standing, talking, and/or visual concentration, and in a freezer/cooler environment and outdoors. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Travel: This position may have occasional travel for meetings, conferences or special events requiring a personal vehicle.
OSHA Standards Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
