Food Rework Lead

Position Summary:

As a member of the Food Resource Department, the Food Rework Operations Lead is responsible for creating a positive, welcoming, and meaningful volunteer experience while providing leadership, guidance, and support throughout daily rework and repack operations. This role trains, engages, and works alongside volunteers to ensure they feel valued and confident in their contributions while maintaining efficient, organized, and sanitary processes for sorting, evaluating, and repackaging donated food products. The Food Rework Lead ensures all activities meet food safety standards and support the production goals, mission, and objectives of Feed My People Food Bank.

Key Responsibilities:

· Collaborate with the Volunteer Recruiter to forecast volunteer staffing needs, coordinate scheduling, and ensure sufficient volunteer support for daily rework operations.

· Prepare the rework area and equipment for daily operations, ensuring all supplies, materials, and tools are ready before volunteers arrive.

· Supervise and train volunteers on proper food handling, product sorting, and evaluation procedures in accordance with established food safety and quality standards.

· Lead food sorting, evaluation, weighing, and repackaging activities, ensuring all products meet Feed My People Food Bank quality standards and applicable industry regulations.

· Prepare and produce accurate product labels for all repackaged and unlabeled food items.

· Maintain compliance with all applicable food safety, health, and regulatory requirements, including local Department of Agriculture and FDA guidelines.

· Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary rework and repack areas by following established cleaning, sanitation, and equipment maintenance schedules.

· Assist with inventory management, quality assurance activities, product inspections, regulatory audits, and required testing.

· Meet regularly with Food Resource Department members, the Volunteer Recruiter, and other FMP colleagues as necessary to collaborate, communicate project status, discuss inventory needs, and provide operational updates.

· Accurately process and transform inventory transactions within the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure inventory integrity and traceability.

Job Specifications:

· Strong customer service, leadership, and volunteer supervision skills.

· Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office.

· Warehouse Management System experience a plus.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Positive attitude and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

· Knowledge of food safety practices and warehouse operations beneficial.

· Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.

· Ability to obtain ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification.

· Ability to lift up to 45 pounds repeatedly and perform physical warehouse tasks, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive movements.

· Ability to safely operate basic warehouse equipment.

· Flexibility to work a few evenings and/or weekend days per year.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $49,500.00 per year
