Job Purpose
The Picker/Packer is responsible for the fast and accurate processing of outgoing orders. You are the final link between the warehouse and the customer, ensuring that the right products are found, packed safely, and shipped on time.
### Key Responsibilities
- Order Picking: Use a handheld RF Scanner to locate items in the warehouse based on digital picking lists.
- Quality Control: Inspect items for damage or defects before packing them.
- Packing: Wrap fragile items, select the correct box size, and use packing materials (bubble wrap, paper) to prevent shifting during transit.
- Shipping Preparation: Seal boxes with industrial tape and apply the correct shipping labels.
- Inventory Support: Assist in "stowing" (putting away) new stock as it arrives from suppliers.
- Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean workstation and follow all OSHA safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
### Candidate Requirements
Because this is an entry-level role, the requirements focus more on your physical ability and attitude than your past work history:
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for 8–10 hours a day and lift up to 40 lbs regularly.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to read small print (SKU numbers) and match them correctly to orders.
- Reliability: A history of being on time for shifts.
- Communication: Basic ability to read and speak English for safety instructions and order processing.
- Background Check: Most logistics companies require a standard criminal background check and a drug test.
### Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: Usually $16.00 – $26.00 per hour (depending on your city/state).
- Overtime: Often available and paid at "time and a half."
- Training: Fully paid on-the-job training (usually 1–2 weeks).
