Job Description:
Job Title: Senior Database Administrator
Location: Fort Meade, MD (Hybrid)

Role Summary: FedTec is seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to serve as a key technical expert responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of mission-critical databases supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) OSS Legacy Systems Sustainment (LSS) program. This role ensures the performance, availability, integrity, and security of databases across multiple environments. The Senior DBA will lead database sustainment efforts, coordinate with system administrators and application developers, and ensure compliance with DISA, DoD, and STIG requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead database specialist supporting all OSS LSS environments, ensuring system availability and performance.
- Install, configure, and administer enterprise database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) across classified and unclassified domains.
- Perform database performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization to maintain reliability and scalability.
- Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery strategies in accordance with DISA policies.
- Ensure database configurations meet DISA STIG, IAVM, and cybersecurity compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to improve database management efficiency.
- Collaborate with application teams to optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models.
- Support data migration and integration efforts as legacy systems transition to modernized platforms.
- Conduct database patching, version upgrades, and vulnerability remediation activities.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation including data dictionaries, configuration guides, and change-management records.
- Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) reviews, ensuring proper database version control and configuration management.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 6 Years of experience
- Additional relevant work experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree on a case-by-case basis
- Proven expertise managing Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server databases in production settings.
- Experience implementing STIG compliance, IAVM patching, and DoD RMF controls.
- Strong understanding of database replication, clustering, and performance tuning methodologies.
- Proficiency in database design, indexing, optimization, and query performance analysis.
- Skilled in shell scripting, PowerShell, or PL/SQL automation.
- Strong documentation and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across system, application, and cybersecurity teams.
