Job Overview:
FedTec is seeking GIS Technician who will be responsible for producing high-quality digital and hard-copy maps using advanced GIS and mapping applications. This role supports ongoing GIS operations through data collection, maintenance, and spatial analysis, while ensuring all datasets meet established accuracy and quality standards. The technician updates spatial database tables to reflect changes in mapped features and participates in quality control efforts for both new and existing data. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the development and upkeep of procedure manuals, conducting software and process research or testing, and performing related tasks as assigned by management.
Responsibilities:
· Produce digital/hard copy maps in advanced GIS/Mapping applications
· Perform GIS data collection, maintenance and analysis
· Update database tables to reflect changes to the GIS features used in GIS analysis and in mapping as assigned by the supervisor.
· Perform quality control on the new and existing data to maintain correctness and spatial accuracy standards
· Assist in the development and maintenance of procedure manuals
· Completes software/procedures research/testing as assigned by the manager
· Performs related tasks as assigned by the manager.
Required Skills and Education
· Knowledge and experience working with GIS/Mapping software and applications, Experience working with a spatial database, Microsoft Office, experience with cartography, experience with database design.
· Bachelor’s degree, Preferred field of study includes Geography, Computer Science, GIS, or Physical Science
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge and experience with ArcGIS Pro, experience with a SQL database, Experience with ArcGIS roads and highways extension
