Business Intelligence (BI) Developer – (Hybrid, West Sacramento, CA)

Location: West Sacramento, CA (Hybrid required)
Contract Duration: Up to 24 months (possible 24-month extension)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to support the Technology Services Branch within their BI & Data Warehouse (BI&DW) Project team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Power BI, SQL development, Data Warehousing (Snowflake/AWS Redshift), and GenAI/ML-driven analytics, along with solid technical design and data engineering capabilities. This is an on-site position at West Sacramento, CA.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement data analytics and BI dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
• Build, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views.
• Develop scalable data solutions using Snowflake or AWS Redshift data warehouse platforms.
• Utilize Generative AI or Machine Learning techniques to deliver advanced analytics solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the BI&DW Project group.
• Follow BI&DW framework, standards, processes, and architectural guidelines.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and SDLC processes, providing technical design and development support.
• Ensure data quality, performance, scalability, and security across BI solutions.
• Support testing, documentation, deployment, and production troubleshooting activities.
• Work on-site 2–3 days per week (hybrid model).

Minimum Qualifications

• 2 years hands-on experience using Generative AI/ML for data analytics solutions.
• 5 years experience designing and developing dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
• 5 years strong SQL development experience (queries, optimization, procedures, functions, views).
• 3 years experience with Snowflake or AWS Redshift data warehouse development.
• Ability to work on-site in West Sacramento, CA during the hybrid schedule.

Desirable Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5 years’ experience with Agile methodologies and SDLC processes.
• 5 years advanced Power BI DAX experience (measures, calculations, data modeling).
• 3 years’ experience working in State agency, Financial, Investment, or regulated industries.
• Strong understanding of BI, data modeling, data governance, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Pay: $90,865.11 - $110,955.84 per year
