Overview of position: 

FEDITC is seeking a Senior Electrical Infrastructure & Energy Assurance Engineer to support Department of the Air Force (DAF) installation energy resilience, infrastructure modernization, and mission assurance initiatives. The position requires an experienced electrical engineer who can evaluate complex facility and infrastructure systems, assess technical alternatives, identify resilience gaps, and develop clear recommendations for senior government stakeholders.

The successful candidate will apply broad electrical engineering judgment across installation power, utility, generation, distribution, backup power, and emerging energy technologies. Prior direct experience with Air Force energy resilience programs is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong backgrounds in DoD facilities, installation infrastructure, electrical distribution, mission-critical facilities, utilities, construction engineering, systems integration, or infrastructure modernization are encouraged to apply.

This is a highly visible position supporting Headquarters-level programs and requires strong technical writing, briefing, stakeholder coordination, and professional judgment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate electrical infrastructure, facility power systems, distribution systems, backup generation, and other resilience-related technologies, concepts, plans, and proposals.
  • Conduct technical reviews of installation planning documents, resilience studies, engineering analyses, project concepts, and proposed solutions.
  • Identify technical gaps, risks, dependencies, and opportunities affecting mission continuity and infrastructure resilience.
  • Assess electrical segmentation, islanding, interconnection, generation, storage, and other strategies supporting resilient installation operations.
  • Develop clear technical recommendations, decision-quality memoranda, briefing materials, and supporting documentation for senior government stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with installation personnel, engineers, utilities, federal laboratories, acquisition professionals, contractors, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Translate complex engineering issues into concise recommendations for technical and non-technical leadership.
  • Support evaluation of conventional and emerging technologies, including distributed generation, energy storage, microgrids, and related infrastructure solutions.
  • Support development of acquisition-ready technical requirements, project justifications, and implementation strategies.
  • Brief senior stakeholders and represent technical positions in high-visibility meetings and working groups.
  • Contribute to energy resilience guidance, training, and knowledge-transfer activities.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Equivalent engineering degree accompanied by specialized electrical engineering experience may be considered.

Certification:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible electrical engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with facilities, infrastructure, electrical distribution, utilities, mission-critical systems, installation engineering, construction engineering, or comparable complex infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex technical systems, identify risks and alternatives, and develop technically sound recommendations.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders and working across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong technical writing and briefing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex engineering matters to senior leaders and non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-visibility environment requiring sound professional judgment and limited day-to-day direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DoD, Air Force, federal, or other mission-critical infrastructure programs.
  • Experience with installation electrical systems, medium- or low-voltage distribution, substations, backup generation, controls, utility systems, or infrastructure modernization.
  • Experience with energy resilience, mission assurance, microgrids, distributed energy resources, battery storage, renewable generation, or grid modernization.
  • Familiarity with federal acquisition, project development, utility coordination, or infrastructure planning.
  • Experience preparing executive-level technical memoranda, briefings, recommendations, or decision-support products.
  • Familiarity with Air Force Civil Engineering or installation energy programs.

Clearance:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance preferred.
  • Candidates with current or recently active DoD clearance may be considered.
  • Candidates without active clearance may be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to government approval and the ability to obtain required interim and final clearance eligibility before performing restricted duties.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and maintain applicable clearance requirements.
