What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President Enterprise Sourcing position at FedEx Services?

General Summary:

This position will lead the enterprise categories of the Global Sourcing team and will be developing and cultivating partnerships with best-in-class suppliers and internal stakeholders, engaging with sourcing and procurement for critical enterprise categories which contribute to $40 billion of externally purchased goods and services across FedEx.

The VP’s key objectives center on achieving significant cost reductions in supplier spend while improving or sustaining quality and supply chain integrity. In the immediate term, this position is also responsible for building and scaling a portion of the global centralized sourcing organization, which includes defining a vision that inspires confidence from both internal stakeholders and existing strategic sourcing personnel. This VP will also create and execute a holistic strategy to realize the vision, including key elements related to talent, category management process and policies. They will also develop and execute an enterprise governance process for the sourcing function. This is a key strategic position utilizing extensive knowledge of successful global sourcing strategies to drive margins and improve efficiencies across the FedEx enterprise.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree/Equivalent.
  • Significant related experience including demonstrably successful management experience.
  • Large company sourcing and procurement experience and external best practices is preferred.
  • Strong human relations and communications skills.
  • The ability to build collaborative work environments, agile teams, and consensus among various stakeholders in a complex and dynamic environment is essential.


Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Build and execute a sourcing strategy that supports FedEx operations.
  • Negotiate and oversee process for entering into sourcing-related business agreements.
  • Leverage knowledge of the FedEx’s products and services to manage the needs of diverse stakeholders and ensure effective collaboration with cross-functional partners and vendors.
  • Negotiate complex contract terms with suppliers with an eye on cost, efficiency, quality, and service.
  • Lead supplier rationalization and increase leveraging of strategic suppliers.
  • Develop processes and operations that enable efficiency, scale, and productivity.
  • Implement sourcing strategies that maximize value capture and minimize risk with a goal of year-over-year improvement across categories.
  • Develop and drive clear and consistent strategies that align with the overall product vision.
  • Build and lead a highly skilled and effective team including proactively recruiting and retaining a diverse team of key talent.
  • Drive large scale initiatives that reshape business processes.


Domicile Location:

  • This position can be domiciled in Memphis, TN; Plano, TX; or Pittsburgh, PA
  • Relocation assistance may be available based on business need
