Mgr-Systems Development

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Plan, organize and manage systems development efforts responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deployment of web applications for desktop/laptop PCs, server computers, REST/SOAP Services, web APIs, and/or mobile devices for FedEx Freight. Create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly, intuitive design with clear navigation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Select, train, and develop a staff of employees and administer an annual budget for Systems Development

• Responsible for the design, creation, testing, deployment, and maintenance of web based applications, large databases, and new systems

• Coordinate with end-users, project stakeholders, and support partners to identify needs, goals, and business objectives

• Develop and implement disaster recovery and back-up procedures, information security and control structures

• Develop and maintain relationships and work closely with key business partners to provide reporting and technology solutions that match business needs through development and creation of performance indices, reporting systems, cost and productivity results, and data reporting requirements

• Manage development activities using standard web technologies (i.e., HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3) that work across multiple device platforms

• Manage back-end programming efforts using languages (e.g., ASP, Java, C#, MVC, MVVM, etc.) in addition to the front-end scripting languages (HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3) to optimize performance, security, and scalability

• Support collaborative efforts with Operations Research team members to integrate optimization modeling and predictive analytic capabilities into Web Application environment

• Coordinate employees involved in projects, administratively and technically

• Develop technology oriented education for team members to support team’s goals and objectives

• Provide technical assistance and mentoring to other systems development and web programming team members

• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures

• Perform other duties as required

Pay Range: $93,851.00 - $180,195.00 per year

Illinois Pay Ranges: Effingham, Kankakee, Lincoln, Quincy, Rockford, Aurora $100,421 - $160,674; Bolingbrook, Chicago Heights, Des Plaines, Elmhurst, Forest View, Joliet, Schaumburg, Summit-Argo, Zion $112,622 - $180,195

This compensation range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting pay range in NJ. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay is determined by experience relative to the job, market level, specific location and other job-related factors permitted by law. Regular full & part-time employees (who complete 91 days of employment and work a minimum average of 12 hours per week) are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and/or vision coverage, tuition reimbursement. Full/part-time employees who are age 21 are eligible for 401(k) after one month of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science or other quantitative discipline, or equivalent work experience plus seven (7) years’ experience in engineering or information systems analysis, system architecture, including but not limited to database design, server requirements, web services, IIS, and GUI design preferably in transportation
• Expert experience with front-end scripting languages (HTML5, JavaScript, CSS) and back-end programming languages (e.g., ASP, Java, C#, MVC, MVVM, etc.)
• Expert experience with relational database systems (e.g. MS SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Teradata, etc.)
• Expert experience with UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards
• Strong Analytical, problem solving, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Strong computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to all levels of employees including executive leadership
