Federated Hermes has an opportunity for an entry level Investment Analyst for our Pittsburgh headquarters. This position is with the Government and Mortgage Backed Securities team within the broader Fixed Income group that manages $100 Billion in assets. As an Associate Investment Analyst, you will conduct in-depth research and analysis covering mortgage backed securities (MBS) and you will be a key team member in the investment-decision process for portfolios, supporting portfolio managers. An ideal candidate will be team-oriented, intellectually curious, and confident in making recommendations.

MAJOR DUTIES:
- Conduct fundamental and quantitative analysis to support investment decisions
- Analyze deals – including collateral analysis, prepayment analysis, and cash-flow modelling
- Analyze economic and regulatory impacts on housing and MBS markets
- Maintain surveillance reporting on portfolio holdings
- Create and maintain presentation and client communication materials
- Maintain on-going and frequent communication with the traders
- Perform other related duties as assigned
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or related field with a solid quantitative foundation
- Master’s degree in business, finance or related field, a plus
- Prior internship or work experience in an investment-related field, preferred
- Experience with data analysis and large data sets, programming experience, a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work in a team environment
- Solid work ethic with superior analytical skills and the ability to multitask
