SALARY: Substitute Certificate $200.00 Full Day / $100.00 Half Day

$200 Bonus - Once a guest works 20 full days, they will automatically receive a $200.00 bonus

Long Term Assignments - Guest staff will be placed on the teacher salary schedule after 20 consecutive days in the assignment

POSITION SUMMARY: The position of Guest Teacher or Emergency Guest Teacher is to provide continuity of the learning environment in the absence of a regular classroom teacher. The Guest Teacher will present the lesson prepared by the teacher or provide alternative instruction if lesson plans are not available. Guest Teachers are expected to maintain a level of classroom control that allows student to learn.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive.   • Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher and carry out instructional activities in accordance with school and district expectations
  • Deliver clear explanations of assignments, instructions, and learning objectives to students
  • Maintain an organized, respectful, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Manage student behavior using established classroom rules and school-wide discipline procedures
  • Supervise students at all times, including during transitions, breaks, and assigned duties
  • Encourage positive student behavior, including respect, responsibility, and self-control
  • Enforce school policies and procedures consistently and fairly
  • Adapt instruction as needed to address student questions and maintain engagement while remaining aligned to provided plans
  • Communicate professionally with students, staff, and administration
  • Report student behavior, progress, and any concerns to the regular teacher or school administration
  • Follow all school safety procedures and protocols
  • Build and maintain professional rapport with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

Current Washington State Teacher's Certificate

OR

Bachelor's degree or higher to qualify for an Emergency Teaching Certificate

Experience working with children in a school district

Condition Of Employment

Criminal background clearance

Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis

Accept at least three assignments a month

Knowledge Of

Knowledge of basic instructional practices and classroom management techniques

Lesson plans and adapt to changing classroom situations

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in a variety of classroom environments

Strong organizational and time management skills

School board policies and procedures

Ability To

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and follow oral and written directions

Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community

Demonstrate sound judgment, ethical conduct, confidentiality, and reliability

Organize, prioritize, and perform responsibilities efficiently with strong attention to detail and minimal supervision

Apply effective classroom management, instructional strategies, and current educational practices

Adapt instruction and materials to meet diverse student needs in multicultural settings

Use technology and modern tools to support instruction and job functions

Collaborate with colleagues and promote teamwork across the district

Maintain a safe, secure, and respectful learning and work environment

Comply with district policies, procedures, and established professional standards

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This position works as needed on a day to day basis on school days.
