Join a high-volume, technology-enabled Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) team delivering safe, accurate, and timely medications to Veterans nationwide. WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Perform prospective clinical verification and DUR for outpatient prescriptions; document interventions and collaborate with prescribers to optimize therapy.
- Oversee automated dispensing/packaging processes; complete final product checks, lot/expiry verification, and labeling accuracy for mail distribution.
- Ensure compliance with VA formulary/NDC policies, controlled substance regulations (DEA/VHA), cold-chain handling, and medication safety standards.
- Lead/participate in quality assurance audits, variance investigations, and continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) initiatives to enhance throughput and accuracy.
- Provide medication and drug information support to prescribers, nursing, and pharmacy staff; escalate adverse drug events and safety signals per VA policy.
- Support technician training, workflow optimization, and competency validation; contribute to SOP updates and accreditation readiness.
- Maintain accurate documentation within VA systems (e.g., VistA/CPRS/ePharmacy) and automation platforms.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Required:
- ACPE-accredited PharmD or B.S. in Pharmacy.
- Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in a U.S. state/territory.
- U.S. Citizenship; proficiency in written/spoken English.
- Ability to work assigned shifts (including potential evenings/weekends/holidays).
- Strong attention to detail in high-volume, metrics-driven environments; proficient with pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technologies.
Preferred:
- 1–3 years in hospital, central fill/mail order, or high-throughput outpatient settings.
- Experience with DUR, quality control, controlled substances, and robotics/packaging systems.
- Residency (PGY1) and/or board certification (e.g., BCPS); Lean/Six Sigma or process-improvement experience.
- Familiarity with VA systems (VistA/CPRS) and e-prescribing workflows.
WORK CONDITIONS
- On-site role in a high-volume, automated central-fill facility.
- Physical requirements may include standing/walking for extended periods, light to moderate lifting (e.g., up to 25 lbs), and repetitive tasks.
- Compliance with VA credentialing, background checks, drug testing, and occupational health requirements. Vaccination/health screenings may apply per federal policy.
