What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder Class II position at Federal Signal Corporation?

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the fit-up and welding of components with stainless steel content
  • Operate gas torch, plasma torch, grinders, jib hoist, and overhead crane
  • Maintain a clean, safe workplace
  • Participate in a job rotation program specified by management in order to maintain skill levels with respect to welding technique and product knowledge.
  • Confined Space Certification is required, and training will be offered by the company.
  • Must submit for medical surveillance according to Vactor's Hexavalent Chromium Program.

Experience And Skills Required

  • Minimum of 2 years of welding or industrial experience with strong mechanical aptitude (preferred).
  • Able to operate all machines and tools in the department
  • Able to read blueprints, tape measures, diagrams, work orders, and work instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to work in prolonged postures (bending, stooping, kneeling, walking, standing, and squatting) while performing all job tasks.
  • Able to pass a weld test(s).
  • Able to weld mild steel as well as stainless steel using the GMAW (MIG) process.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have good knowledge of weld symbols, processes, and procedures.
  • Must be able to use jigs and fixtures to produce weldments.

EDUCATION REQUIRED
: High school grad or equivalent
