What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder Class II position at Federal Signal Corporation?
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the fit-up and welding of components with stainless steel content
- Operate gas torch, plasma torch, grinders, jib hoist, and overhead crane
- Maintain a clean, safe workplace
- Participate in a job rotation program specified by management in order to maintain skill levels with respect to welding technique and product knowledge.
- Confined Space Certification is required, and training will be offered by the company.
- Must submit for medical surveillance according to Vactor's Hexavalent Chromium Program.
Experience And Skills Required
- Minimum of 2 years of welding or industrial experience with strong mechanical aptitude (preferred).
- Able to operate all machines and tools in the department
- Able to read blueprints, tape measures, diagrams, work orders, and work instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to work in prolonged postures (bending, stooping, kneeling, walking, standing, and squatting) while performing all job tasks.
- Able to pass a weld test(s).
- Able to weld mild steel as well as stainless steel using the GMAW (MIG) process.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must have good knowledge of weld symbols, processes, and procedures.
- Must be able to use jigs and fixtures to produce weldments.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
: High school grad or equivalent
