- Role Overview
Federal Screw Works, a premier Tier 1 automotive parts supplier, is seeking an experienced Quality Manager for our Nut Group. Based at our Romulus Distribution facility, this leadership role drives quality excellence locally and provides strategic oversight for our Traverse City (TVC) manufacturing plant. You will serve as the primary champion for our quality systems, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
-Essential Functions & Duties
- System Ownership: Manage, audit, and develop IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 QMS systems at both facilities, including robust documentation development and support.
- Customer Interface: Act as the primary contact to resolve customer quality swiftly, serving as the main contact for all customer corrective action activities.
- Core Tools Execution: Utilize AIAG, PPAP, PFMEA, APQP, Control Plans, and 8-D corrective actions daily. Test, verify, and implement internal and external corrective actions (CAPA).
- Supplier Quality: Ensure Romulus supplier base compliance, audit vendor quality standards, and assist with supplier quality issues at TVC when needed.
- Audit & Visit Leadership: Direct, support, and assist with internal auditing activities; maintain a mandatory presence for all external audits and customer visits.
- Product Launches: Participate actively in Design Reviews, Product Launches, and APQP tasks.
- Team Development: Assess employee quality training needs and execute training plans.
- Performance Tracking: Document all quality activities and present improvement results to leadership.
-Travel & On-Site Presence
- Traverse City Plant: Requires a regular monthly presence of 2–3 days on-site at the Traverse City facility to support operations and internal audits.
-Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of proven quality and managerial experience.
- Industry Background: Tier 1 automotive experience in a fast pace/multi-task environment is required.
- Expertise: Deep proficiency with AIAG automotive core tools, 8-D problem-solving, and QMS documentation.
- Asset: Knowledge of cold-formed fasteners is highly preferred.
- Skills: Exceptional technical aptitude, strong leadership, and rigorous follow-up skills.
