Family Services Coordinator

Job Summary

The Family Services Assistant provides support to the Director of Federal Programs by helping identify families in need of services and providing information to families so that they are able to access available supports so that students can attend school consistently.

 

Reports To:  Associate Superintendent of Instruction and Federal Programs

 

Minimum Qualifications

  1.  High School Diploma or Equivalent
  2.  Demonstrated Organization Skills
  3.  Demonstrated Communication Skills
  4.  Demonstrated Public Relation Skills
  5.  Demonstrated Computer Skills
  6.  Minimum of three (3) Years of Related Experience
  7.  Ability to Perform Essential Functions

 

Desired Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of and experience coordinating with and providing information to families.
  2. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft (Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel).
  3. Better than average recommendations from previous employers and/or other professionals familiar with the applicant’s personal characteristics, academic achievement, and workplace performance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive interviews with families to identify needs and determine supports that are necessary to remove barriers to a child’s success.
  • Work with staff across schools and the district to identify possible support for families, including medical, housing, and food.
  • Connect families with individuals and programs within the district that will be able to provide necessary supports to families.
  • Track and document family needs and follow-up that has been provided to support families.
  • Complete all program-related documentation according to established timelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Establish regular contact with families and local service providers.
  • Safeguard and maintain individual records to keep family information complete, confidential, and in order.
  • Monitor progress of interventions/supports that the district has provided to families.
  • Work with families in an empathic, professional, and objective manner.
  • Follows all Board of Education policies, administrative guidelines, and faculty handbook and bulletin information
  • Assist with public relations activities to foster cooperation and support of programs and to maintain outside agency contacts.
  • Participate in training opportunities to maintain individual and organizational competency in assigned areas of responsibility. This includes required policies and procedures, attending in-services, conferences, workshops, and required agency meetings as appropriate.
  • Any and all other tasks as assigned by the Director of Federal Programs or his/her designee.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position supervises the following positions: None.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must possess and maintain a current driver’s license and take a Defensive Driving course at District expense if you drive a district-owned vehicle.  The employee is frequently required to interact with the public and other staff.

 

Certificates, Licenses

Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid New Mexico driver’s license.

 

Term of Employment

  • Twelve-month employee.
  • Hourly Via Timesheet
  • Evaluation annually

 

Evaluation

Performance of duty will be evaluated at least annually in accordance with Aztec School Board Policy.

 

 


Physical Rating Level

 

This position will require the employee to function at a “Medium” physical capacity as defined by Worker’s Compensation Statutes.  “Medium” physical capacity indicates the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally or up to 25 pounds frequently.
