Federal Government – Arlington, VA (On-Site) 6 month -1 year Contract (Full-time/40 hours/week)
A federal government agency in Arlington, Virginia is seeking a highly motivated Policy and Legal Research Analyst/Paralegal to support senior agency leadership, including the Director of Operations, General Counsel, and Agency Director.
This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys research, writing, policy analysis, and executive-level support. The successful candidate will work directly with agency leadership on a variety of legal, operational, and strategic initiatives and will play a key role in helping senior officials analyze information, develop written materials, and support the agency's mission.
Primary Responsibilities
• Conduct legal, regulatory, policy, and operational research for senior agency leadership.
• Perform case law analysis and legal research assignments.
• Draft papers, memoranda, reports, briefing materials, and other written products related to agency doctrine, operations, and policy.
• Review and edit documents for grammar, source accuracy, formatting, and Bluebook-compliant citations.
• Conduct research and analysis projects for the Director of Operations, General Counsel, and Agency Director.
• Analyze and synthesize complex information into concise, executive-level work products.
• Support strategic communications initiatives and special projects.
• Utilize federal regulations, archival materials, and government resources, including CFR and NARA sources, as needed.
• Assist with program management and organizational initiatives.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required. Strong academics helpful.
• Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
• Experience conducting legal research and case law analysis.
• Experience producing long-form written work, reports, memoranda, or policy papers.
• Exceptional attention to detail, including editing and citation review.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Prior federal government, military, government contractor, consulting, public policy, legislative, or legal experience is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with Bluebook citations, CFR research, and federal regulatory materials is a plus.
