This position is located in the Chief Information Officer Organization (CIOO), in the Network and Security Section (NSS) within the Infrastructure and Operations Services Branch (IOSB) of the FDIC. The incumbent designs, develops, configures, and tests enterprise-wide solutions for implementation throughout the FDIC, serves as a team leader and/or project manager as appropriate, and provides technical tier three support to the FDIC Operational areas.

To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 13 level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience: 1) Managing projects relating to the design, development, configuration, and implementation of enterprise-wide network and security solutions; 2) Leading network and security infrastructure endeavors (e.g. Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), cloud integration, capacity planning) as it relates to on-premise, cloud, and hybrid cloud infrastructures; and 3) Leading the evaluation of vendor proposals and recommending selection of hardware and software technologies.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the evaluation, design, selection, and implementation of on premise or cloud-based multi-vendor network and security solutions throughout the enterprise to include LAN, MAN, WAN, remote access, wireless, next generation firewalls, IDS/IPS, load balancing and application delivery, authentication, encryption, and orchestration.
- Direct and guide in the gathering of on premise or cloud-based hardware and software requirements for new initiatives, and evaluating and testing computer and software products to determine which products best meet the IT requirements of the Corporation and enhance the Corporation's information security posture.
- Analyze and recommend selection of hardware and software technologies and processes most suited to the requirements of the Corporation.
- Lead complex network and security infrastructure endeavors such as Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) to include encrypted DNS, microsegmentation, and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), cloud integration, capacity planning as it relates to on-premise, cloud, and hybrid cloud infrastructures, IPv6, and continuous improvement of the remote user experience.
- Ensure the rigorous application of information security, information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of all network services to safeguard the FDIC internal and external networks in support of the FDIC core business.
- Participate in establishing secure baseline configurations and security controls for network devices, firewalls, and related products.
- Provide Tier 3 support for data network and security issues, collaborates with operations in troubleshooting, service restoration, as well as problem management activities including root cause analysis, implementation of the final problem resolution, problem monitoring and reporting.
