What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager position at Feast & Fettle?
Feast & Fettle is seeking a Production Manager to support our Culinary Operations team in Elkridge, MD.
This is a leadership role responsible for driving performance, fostering a culture of career development for associates, and ensuring operational excellence in a large-scale food manufacturing environment. Reporting to the VP of Culinary Operations, the Production Manager drives food safety and quality culture, oversees daily output, leads the team, and manages systems across a high-volume, multi-shift kitchen operation. The role will work a Wednesday - Sunday schedule requiring consistent on-site presence, and weekend availability.
What you’ll do
As the Production Manager, you’ll lead all aspects of prepared food production—from team structure and staffing to output, quality, and safety.
You’ll own the shift-level strategy, supporting day-to-day production goals while building a resilient team culture and a stable, scalable operation. Managing a team of Production Supervisors and their 50 hourly associates, you will oversee several areas from Industrial Prep/Cooking and Manual Packaging.
You will drive a culture of food safety and quality, ensuring compliance to processes at all times, and you will assist in investigations using a root-cause corrective action process. You will monitor throughput and downtime, track production KPIs, and seek opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen team performance.
You will be overseeing Prep, Production and Packout with support from Supervisors and station leads to keep the kitchen clean while active, compliant, and running smoothly. Collaboration will be central to your work, as you’ll partner with Other Site Counterpart, R&D, Purchasing, Member Services, Fulfillment, FSQA, Sanitation, and People Ops to streamline the operations process and improve member experiences. You’ll also take ownership of hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing career development, ensuring your team is well-rounded, well-equipped, and set up for long-term success.
What is Feast & Fettle?
Feast & Fettle is the fastest-growing meal delivery service in the Northeast—and that momentum comes from a team of smart, kind people who show up to build, not just keep up. We move with urgency, sweat the right details, and bring care to everything we touch.
What began in 2016 as a private chef’s side hustle has grown into a company serving thousands of households, with a mission that’s both simple and personal: to nourish everyday life. That mission shows up in every detail—from how we source ingredients and plan our weekly menus to the care in every delivery and the trust we build at our Members’ tables.
We care for our people the same way we care for our Members—with consistency, thoughtfulness, and a commitment to raising the standard. We invest in our team because we know: when you’re supported, you do your best work—and help us do ours.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience leading people and processes in a high-volume food production or regulatory-compliant manufacturing environment.
- A strong understanding of batch cooking at scale, team supervision, and the systems that drive productivity, accuracy, and compliance.
- Comfort working with perishable goods, fast-moving priorities, and daily volume targets.
- A data-driven approach to accountability, with the ability to capture, report on, and act on metrics like OTIF and labor costs.
- Strong planning and communication skills, with a leadership style grounded in accountability and steadiness under pressure.
- Experience managing and developing large teams of 50 to 75 or more, and partnering with teams remotely or across multiple sites.
- An understanding of, and comfort working within, a second-chance employment model, creating a fair and supportive environment for team members from all backgrounds.
- Willingness to travel between worksites at least 1x/month and for an extended period during onboarding and training.
Nice-to-Have:
- Six Sigma, 5S, or other Lean principles experience.
- ServSafe certification (in-house food safety training is required during onboarding).
- Because our team is multilingual, bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is desired for this role.
We believe the best person for this role brings not just experience, but perspective. We actively seek candidates whose backgrounds, identities, and ways of thinking reflect the diversity of the team at Feast & Fettle.
