Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fleet Manager/Dispatcher to oversee transportation operations and coordinate logistics efficiently. This role involves managing vehicle fleets, dispatching freight, and ensuring timely delivery while maintaining safety and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, technical proficiency with transportation management systems, and a solid understanding of supply chain and logistics processes to optimize fleet utilization and service quality.
Duties
- Coordinate daily dispatch operations for freight movement, ensuring optimal routing and scheduling using GPS, and transportation management systems.
- Monitor fleet performance through data analysis and reporting tools to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Manage shipping & receiving activities, including freight documentation, and tracking.
- Oversee fleet maintenance schedules, vehicle allocation, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Utilize phone systems to communicate with drivers, clients, and internal teams effectively while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
- Input accurate data into transportation management software for tracking, reporting, and analysis purposes.
- Collaborate with 3PL providers, supply chain partners, and internal departments to streamline logistics operations.
- Conduct transportation planning by analyzing routes, freight loads, and delivery windows to meet customer expectations.
- Maintain organized records of dispatch activities, vehicle logs, and maintenance schedules for audit purposes.
- Coordinate and oversee truck maintenance and repair while ensuring cost effectiveness.
- Post available driving positions and schedule interviews with applicant drivers.
Skills
- Proficiency in, GPS technology, and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Strong understanding of supply chain logistics, transportation planning, and freight management.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret data for operational improvements.
- Effective dispatching skills with experience in freight coordination.
- Exceptional communication skills including phone etiquette for interacting with drivers and clients.
- Typing proficiency for efficient data entry in various software platforms.
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures along with fleet management practices.
- Experience working with multi-line phone systems and transportation management tools like Transportation Management System (TMS) software.
- Ability to manage transportation operations within a 3PL environment or similar logistics setting. Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
