Position:
Fearing’s Audio Video & Security is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial AV Service Specialist to provide advanced troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and technical support for complex commercial audiovisual systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, independent judgment, and systems-level problem solving across a variety of client environments.
The position operates with minimal supervision and serves as a senior technical resource within the Service team. The Senior Commercial AV Service Specialist is responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex system issues, restoring system functionality, optimizing performance, and delivering a high level of customer service.
Primary Responsibilities
- Independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex commercial AV system issues across control, audio, video, DSP, and networked AV environments
- Perform advanced service, repair, maintenance, and system optimization for existing customer systems
- Respond to escalated service issues and serve as a senior technical resource for complex troubleshooting
- Configure, troubleshoot, and modify control systems, including Q-SYS, Crestron, and AMX, as applicable
- Troubleshoot, configure, and optimize DSP platforms and audio systems
- Diagnose issues involving AV-over-IP, Dante, IP-addressable devices, and networked AV systems
- Evaluate system performance and identify root causes of recurring or intermittent technical issues
- Perform programming modifications, configuration changes, firmware updates, and system adjustments necessary to restore or improve system functionality
- Identify failed or obsolete equipment and recommend appropriate repair, replacement, or upgrade solutions
- Provide clear technical recommendations to customers regarding system repairs, maintenance, upgrades, and long-term system performance
- Serve as a technical resource for other Service Technicians and provide guidance on advanced troubleshooting and system issues
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding service findings, recommended solutions, system operation, and next steps
- Accurately document service activities, troubleshooting performed, system changes, equipment issues, and recommended follow-up
- Maintain appropriate service documentation and customer system information
- Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, and Operations when service findings require system redesign, upgrades, or additional project work
- Contribute to continuous improvement of service standards, troubleshooting procedures, documentation, and technical best practices
- Perform other professional duties as required to support Service operations and business objectives
Qualifications & Professional Experience
- Associate degree in Electronics, Information Technology, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive commercial AV service, troubleshooting, or systems integration experience
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and supporting AMX, Crestron, and/or Q-SYS control platforms
- Advanced DSP troubleshooting, programming, and tuning experience
- Experience with AV-over-IP, Dante, and modern networked AV systems
- Strong working knowledge of IP networking principles as they relate to commercial AV systems
- Proven ability to independently diagnose complex technical problems and implement effective solutions
- Experience servicing integrated commercial AV systems in active customer environments
- Ability to read and interpret system drawings, signal flow diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
- CTS certification preferred
- Manufacturer certifications related to Crestron, Q-SYS, Dante, DSP, or other relevant AV technologies preferred

Physical & Administrative Requirements
- Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and elevated surfaces
- Ability to lift and handle equipment weighing up to 80 lbs
- Ability to travel to customer locations as required to perform service work
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Background check, drug screening, and reference verification required
