What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Officer position at FDRsafety, LLC?
FDRsafety is seeking a Safety Officer to lead and elevate safety performance across complex construction environments, including mission-critical and high-demand project sites. This role is responsible for driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance, and supporting uninterrupted operations in fast-paced, technical settings.
The Safety Officer partners closely with project leadership, field teams, and subcontractors to identify risk, enforce standards, and continuously improve safety outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Site Safety Leadership
- Lead day-to-day safety operations across active job sites
- Conduct site walks, hazard assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
- Enforce safety protocols for high-risk activities (LOTO, energized work, confined space, cranes, hot work)
- Support development of site-specific safety plans with project teams
Program Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Review and update safety manuals and procedures as regulations evolve
- Maintain all safety documentation including incident reports, training logs, and audits
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews
Training & Culture Development
- Deliver training on key safety practices (LOTO, electrical safety, PPE, equipment handling)
- Lead toolbox talks and validate jobsite safety meeting effectiveness
- Coach field teams to reinforce a proactive, accountable safety culture
- Promote continuous improvement through lessons learned and after-action reviews
Incident Prevention & Response
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans
- Monitor safety metrics and implement improvements based on trends
- Support emergency preparedness and verify response plans are in place
Field Oversight & Equipment Safety
- Verify PPE availability and compliance
- Inspect equipment (forklifts, lifts, fire extinguishers, first aid kits)
- Ensure site security, signage, and emergency readiness
- Support safe construction sequencing and commissioning activities
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of construction safety experience required
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and construction safety regulations
- Experience in complex environments (MEP, data centers, or industrial construction preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Construction, or related field preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, and training skills
- Ability to identify hazards and implement corrective actions quickly
- Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities
