What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health & Safety Specialist position at FDR Safety?

FDRsafety is seeking an experienced Area Health & Safety Specialist to support multiple liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities across several U.S. locations. This role is based at the company’s Maryland operations and is responsible for the implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of comprehensive health and safety programs across a multi-site LNG environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge in industrial safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT), with demonstrated experience in LNG or related energy/pipeline operations. This position requires a high level of independence, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to engage with leadership, site personnel, and regulatory bodies.

Salary Range: $103K–$122K Bonus, Full Benefits Package, & Relocation Assistance Available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on safety support to multiple LNG facilities across MD, FL, PA, and AL.
  • Lead the implementation and oversight of safety and loss prevention programs at each location.
  • Conduct facility risk assessments and integrity evaluations to identify safety hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate the incident investigation process, root cause analysis, and recommend mitigative actions.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on company safety policies, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices.
  • Develop safety reports, dashboards, and trend analyses to evaluate risk across facilities.
  • Oversee and enforce regulatory programs including:
    • OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, NFPA, NEC
    • Hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and benzene programs
    • Site-specific safety training and compliance documentation
  • Deliver one-on-one and group safety training to site personnel and leadership.
  • Perform internal safety self-assessments and support emergency response and fire brigade teams.
  • Coordinate third-party vendors for audiometric, respirator testing, and equipment inspections.
  • Stay current on changing safety regulations and technologies, and serve as liaison with investigators or regulatory contacts when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 6 years of safety-related experience, ideally in LNG, natural gas, or high-risk energy environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, NEC, NFPA, DOT, and workers’ compensation laws.
  • Ability to conduct high-level facility assessments and make data-driven safety recommendations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and mobile communication tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Available to be on-call for urgent safety-related situations.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities independently.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • In lieu of a degree, 4 additional years of progressive safety experience may be considered.

Certifications:

  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) is preferred.

Salary : $103,000 - $122,000
