Medical Stop Loss Underwriter We have the following job opportunity in our New York City or Iselin, NJ office: Description The Medical Stop Loss Underwriter will be part of the FAIRCO Medical Stop Loss team. FAIRCO is a subsidiary of TransRe Holdings, a Berkshire Hathaway company. The Underwriter will be a key contributor to the growing stop loss team and will report directly to the COO of FAIRCO Medical Stop Loss. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Working directly with producers (Brokers and TPAs) to quote and negotiate specific and aggregate stop loss pricing and terms. Working within a team of underwriters to manage renewals, new business & RFPs and making decisions within assigned underwriting authority and guidelines. Evaluating large claim risk with input from medical underwriting. Maintaining a profitable book of business while achieving division growth goals. Developing strong relationships with business partners (Brokers, TPAs, vendors etc.) Managing RFP workflow and Underwriting setup as necessary. Working closely with Underwriting team to provide feedback on underwriting policies and procedures. Collaborating with VP of Marketing to develop successful relationships and sales strategies. Requirements The ideal candidates should demonstrate a successful track record of achievement in the following areas: Minimum of 4 years’ experience in underwriting stop loss Experience with the Kevin Ugan Stop Loss system would be a plus Track record of negotiating stop loss proposals and dealing directly with brokers/producers Proficient with all Microsoft Office Applications Travel 1-2 times per quarter to client sites and TransRe offices Organized, analytical, quick learner, ability to multitask, strong attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Work Schedule TransRe is supportive of an agile work schedule, which may differ based on individual roles, your local office’s practices and preferences, marketplace trends, and TransRe’s business objectives. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office per week, and 2 days remote. Compensation In addition to base salary, for this position, TransRe offers a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, and incentive pay opportunity. The anticipated annual base salary range in New York for this position, exclusive of benefits, paid time off, and incentive pay opportunity is $80,000 – $110,000. This range is an estimate, and the actual base salary offered for this position will be determined based on certain factors, including the applicant’s specific skill set and level of experience.
