What are the responsibilities and job description for the Performance Coach position at FCF Performance?
Performance Coach (Youth Athlete Training)
Location: Waldorf, MD
Job Type: Part-Time with long-term growth opportunity
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
About FCF Performance
FCF Performance is Waldorf’s home for serious youth athletic development. We train young athletes to get faster, stronger, and more confident — and we do it in an environment where they actually want to be. Parents trust us with their kids. Athletes trust us with their goals. We’re expanding our performance program and looking for a coach to grow with us.
Who We’re Looking For
Coaching young athletes takes something extra. We want someone with big energy and real patience — a coach who can push a 15-year-old to their limit and make a nervous 11-year-old feel like they belong, sometimes in the same hour. If athletes leave your sessions fired up and parents leave confident their kid is in good hands, we want to talk to you.
We’re looking for someone who wants to help build this program with us over the long haul, not just pick up a few shifts.
What You’ll Do
- Lead group and individual performance training sessions for youth athletes
- Coach movement fundamentals, strength, speed, agility, and injury-prevention work appropriate to each athlete’s age and stage
- Progress and modify exercises for varying ages, sports, and ability levels
- Watch form closely and keep safety first in every session
- Track athlete attendance and progress in our scheduling app (PushPress)
- Communicate clearly and proactively with parents about their athlete’s progress
- Keep the training floor clean, organized, and safe
- Build lasting relationships with athletes and families — our growth runs on word of mouth
- Help cover teammates’ sessions when needed
What You Bring
- Certification in strength & conditioning, personal training, or youth athletic development (NSCA-CSCS, NASM, ISSA, USAW, or equivalent) strongly preferred
- Current CPR/AED certification — required (or willing to obtain within 30 days)
- Experience coaching youth athletes — through strength & conditioning, performance training, or sport coaching
- Solid understanding of age-appropriate training and long-term athletic development
- High energy, patience, and a positive coaching presence that young athletes respond to
- Confidence communicating with parents professionally and warmly
- Reliability and punctuality — families plan around your sessions
- Availability for afternoons, evenings, and weekends (peak youth hours)
- Real interest in growing with a company long-term
What We Offer
- Hourly rate commensurate with experience
- Long-term employment opportunity with room to grow as our youth program expands
- Free gym membership
- Continuing education and certification renewal support
- A chance to genuinely shape a growing performance program
