Position Summary
The Public Receiving Spotter is responsible for safely directing traffic, assisting customers, inspecting incoming loads, and managing material placement within the public receiving area. This position is highly customer-service oriented and requires continuous physical labor, strong situational awareness, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced solid waste environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Direct incoming public traffic into designated unloading bays in a safe and efficient manner
- Provide clear instructions to customers regarding unloading procedures and material separation
- Conduct load checks on vehicles to verify proper material type and compliance with facility regulations
- Identify, separate, and direct prohibited or special waste materials according to site procedures
- Continuously stack, sort, and handle materials including:
- Tires (50 lbs)
- Televisions (including CRT units)
- Electronic waste (E-waste)
- Maintain organized stacking areas to maximize safety and storage efficiency
- Monitor bay activity to prevent congestion and ensure safe vehicle flow
- Deliver high-level customer service while enforcing facility rules and safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of public receiving areas
- Communicate effectively with scale house personnel, equipment operators, and supervisors
- Report safety hazards, prohibited materials, or customer incidents immediately
- Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds throughout the shift
- Continuous stacking and movement of heavy items such as tires, TVs, and electronic waste
- Prolonged standing and walking on uneven surfaces
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Frequent bending, twisting, and reaching
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience in solid waste, recycling, landfill, or transfer station operations preferred
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to enforce rules professionally and respectfully
- Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
