What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool Room Machinist position at FCC (Adams) LLC?
Role
In this role, you will be responsible for precision machining, fabricating, modifying, and repairing complex tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and specialized machinery components. Working closely with design and manufacturing engineers, you will transform engineering blueprints and CAD model into high precision, functional equipment that supports our productions lines.
Responsibilities
1. Fabricate, machine, and assemble high-precision tooling, fixtures, dies, molds, and custom machine components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
2. Set-up and operate conventional machine shop equipment, including manual mills/lathes, surface grinders. CNC mills/lathes, and saws.
3. Collaborate with engineering teams to prototype new equipment designs and offer advice on manufacturability.
4. Inspect prototype and finished parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure strict adherence to tolerance. (Often within /-.01mm)
5. Comply with departmental continuous improvement activities
6. Promote and ensure conformance to the companies IATF 16949 procedures (work standards, regulations, quality manual).
7. Promote and ensure conformance to the companies ISO 14001 procedures (recycling, reducing waste).
8. Promote and ensure a safe, clean, harassment-free, working environment. Comply with department 5C activities
9. Effectively communicate with management, direct supervisor, associates and suppliers
10. Additional projects assigned by management
Preferred Qualifications and Education Requirements
1. High School Diploma or GED - Required
2. Completion of formal machinist apprenticeship program, or 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a tool room machinist in an engineering or manufacturing setting.
Preferred Skills/Experience
1. Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. (GD&T)
2. Computer knowledge
