Facility Contract Services (FCS) is a Florida-based contract services company that employs and manages personnel for municipal clients. Our staffing services include administrative support, clerical, accounting, payroll, billing, accounts payable/receivable, purchasing, human resources, supervisory roles, utility services, water and wastewater plant operations, property and general services management, building and landscape maintenance, parks and recreation, and senior and community services. FCS specializes in municipal privatization through a task-based approach aimed at improving productivity and efficiency.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The ESE Unique Aide – Non-Instructional provides direct support to exceptional students with significant physical, medical, and behavioral needs. Under the supervision of instructional staff, the aide assists students in activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, feeding, and use of adaptive equipment. This role also involves implementing behavioral support strategies and ensuring student safety throughout the school day. The aide plays a critical role in helping students access their educational environment with dignity, respect, and care.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist ESE students with academic tasks, classroom activities, and behavioral interventions as outlined in their IEPs.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support tailored to each student’s unique learning and physical needs.
  • Help with personal care tasks such as mobility assistance, feeding, toileting, and hygiene, when necessary.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, behaviors, and needs to the ESE teacher or supervisor.
  • Implement behavioral support plans and crisis intervention techniques when required.
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and families.
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assist in adapting instructional materials and setting up assistive technology devices.
  • Attend training sessions and team meetings to stay updated on best practices and legal requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all district policies and procedures.
Qualifications:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
  • One year experience working with children OR successful completion of the forty-five (45) hour child care certification training program available through BCC or NSU.
  • The ability to interact and communicate effectively with children. Bilingual skills preferred. Computer skills as required for the position.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to lift, position, and transfer students, which may involve lifting up to 50 pounds or more with assistance or proper equipment.
  • Regular movement is required, including standing for extended periods, bending, squatting, reaching, and kneeling to assist students at their level or with mobility needs.
  • Ability to move quickly in response to student needs, including during behavioral incidents or medical emergencies.
  • Must maintain close visual and auditory attention to monitor student safety, behavior, and medical needs throughout the day.
  • School-based setting: Primarily in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and sometimes outdoor environments (e.g., playgrounds or school buses).
