About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Truck Mechanic to join our team in Portsmouth, VA. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial trucks and heavy-duty vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operation. This is a direct hire opportunity for a motivated individual with strong mechanical skills and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Candidates must have their own basic mechanic tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine systems on commercial trucks.
- Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, brake inspections, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
- Troubleshoot engine, transmission, suspension, steering, and braking system issues.
- Repair or replace defective components and ensure vehicles meet safety standards.
- Perform routine inspections and identify maintenance needs before they become major repairs.
- Maintain accurate service and repair documentation.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to complete repairs in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Truck Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of truck mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing commercial vehicles.
- Ability to read service manuals and repair documentation.
- Must have your own basic mechanic tools.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in a shop environment.
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
