Commercial Underwriter

What you’ll do:
- Exercise underwriting judgement to determine rate and risk selection for commercial business.
- Make modifications, rejections, cancellations, and non-renewal decisions in accordance with Farm Bureau policy.
- Review and interpret payroll audit results.
- Respond to and interpret underwriting questions and concerns by providing technical advice/service to policyholders, agents, and less senior underwriting staff.
- Work with agents to produce a profitable book of business.
- Recommend changes to the Commercial marketing philosophy, product, system and processes that may improve service, efficiency, quality and/or profitability.
- Support other underwriters and service personnel in the learning and fulfillment of their duties.
What it takes to join our team:
· College degree or equivalent plus five years of relevant experience required.
· Must keep up-to-date regarding state and federal compliance rules and regulations.
· Must have good analytical and problem solving skills.
· Ability to negotiate and cope with stressful situations.
· Computer/keyboard skills as appropriate to this position.
· Oral and written communication skills as appropriate to this position.
· Reasonably regular and predictable attendance.
