Material & Logistics Coordinator (Unplanned Materials)

FBi Buildings | Remington, IN Full-Time | On-Site

75-80K Base Full Benefits

Keep Materials Moving. Solve Problems. Make an Impact.

Are you someone who enjoys solving problems, keeping operations organized, and making sure the right materials get to the right place at the right time?

FBi Buildings is looking for a Material & Logistics Coordinator to help keep our construction projects moving by resolving unexpected material needs, coordinating replacements, and identifying ways to prevent recurring problems.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in material planning, logistics, purchasing, inventory control, production coordination, or operations who enjoys working across departments and taking ownership of problems from start to finish.

You don’t need a background in construction to succeed. We’re looking for someone who understands how materials move through an operation, knows how to find answers, and takes pride in getting things done.

About the Role

As our Material & Logistics Coordinator, you’ll be the central point of coordination when construction crews encounter missing, damaged, incorrect, or unexpectedly needed materials.

You’ll work closely with field crews, project managers, purchasing, material planning, yard operations, and logistics to understand what’s needed, investigate available inventory, coordinate material releases, and arrange timely delivery to jobsites.

But this role goes beyond processing requests. We want someone who thinks critically, asks good questions, and looks for the most efficient solution before ordering or shipping additional material. Sometimes the answer is locating material already available. Other times, it’s coordinating a replacement, expediting a shipment, or identifying where a breakdown occurred.

You’ll also help uncover the root causes behind recurring material issues, working with other departments to improve processes, reduce waste, and prevent costly delays.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Coordinate material requests: Review and prioritize incoming material needs, verify quantities and specifications, and ensure requests move quickly through the appropriate departments.

· Investigate and solve problems: Research missing, damaged, or incorrect materials using inventory records, order histories, shipment information, and communication with field and operations teams.

· Keep projects moving: Coordinate with purchasing, material planning, yard operations, and dispatch to secure materials and arrange efficient, timely delivery to jobsites.

· Manage priorities and follow-through: Track open requests, monitor deadlines, communicate status updates, and escalate urgent issues to prevent construction delays.

· Reduce unnecessary costs: Identify materials already available in inventory, existing orders, or jobsites before initiating replacements or additional shipments.

· Identify root causes and improve processes: Investigate recurring shortages, damage, and material discrepancies. Work with the team to implement practical improvements that reduce waste and prevent future problems.

· Maintain accurate records: Track request status, material releases, delivery arrangements, and resolution details to support accountability and continuous improvement.

Success in this role means fewer material-related delays, less waste, more efficient use of resources, and construction crews who can count on getting what they need.

What We’re Looking For

We’re interested in candidates who have developed strong coordination, problem-solving, and organizational skills in manufacturing, distribution, construction, transportation, or other material-intensive operations.

Relevant experience might include:

· Material Coordinator, Material Planner, or Production Planner

· Logistics Coordinator, Shipping Coordinator, or Dispatcher

· Inventory Control, Purchasing, or Supply Chain Coordinator

· Production Coordinator or Manufacturing Operations Coordinator

· Construction Materials Coordinator or Project Coordinator

The strongest candidates will bring:

· Experience coordinating materials, inventory, purchasing, logistics, production, or operational workflows.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requests, deadlines, and changing priorities.

· A proactive, resourceful approach to troubleshooting problems and following through until they’re resolved.

· Good communication skills and the confidence to work with people across departments and in the field.

· Attention to detail when reviewing material specifications, quantities, orders, and shipping information.

· Comfort working with computer-based systems, spreadsheets, and operational tracking tools.

· A practical, improvement-minded approach that looks beyond the immediate problem to understand why it happened.

Experience with ERP, MRP, inventory management, purchasing, or logistics software is helpful. Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or root cause analysis is also a plus.

Above all, we value reliability, ownership, sound judgment, and a strong work ethic. We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, stays organized under pressure, and genuinely enjoys helping a team succeed.
