Primary Purpose of the Organization:

The Visual Art Program facilitates 21st-century skills: creative and analytic thinking, collaborations, and communication in written, spoken, and visual language. Visual art programs interface traditional methods and practices, technology, new media, and self-reflection for students to be successful and competitive in an art career.

Participants who want to share their skills with K-12 students may enter our teacher preparation program. We use innovative, hands-on methods to stimulate creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking in our students.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The printmaking lecturer is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in traditional and contemporary printmaking processes while fostering students’ technical proficiency, conceptual development, and critical engagement with visual culture. Additional courses may include contemporary theory and drawing. This position supports the department’s mission by cultivating creative inquiry, interdisciplinary exploration, and inclusive pedagogical practices that prepare students for professional artistic practice, graduate study, and lifelong engagement in the arts.

The Printmaking Lecturer contributes to curriculum development and advances the intellectual and artistic life of the department, service, and community engagement. Through mentorship and rigorous studio instruction, the faculty member promotes experimentation, ethical studio practices, and an understanding of printmaking’s historical, cultural, and social contexts.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education Requirements:

  • Terminal degree in Printmaking, Studio Art, or a closely related field ( MFA or equivalent) from an accredited institution required.


Experience Requirements:

  • College‑level teaching experience in printmaking or related studio art courses
  • Records of scholarly and/or creative activity appropriate to rank, such as exhibitions, residencies, or professional practice.
  • Experience with curriculum development, assessment, or program review
  • Experience mentoring or advising students on artistic development, portfolios, or career pathways.
  • Experience supporting exhibitions, studio operations, or departmental service activities.


Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of traditional and contemporary printmaking processes, including relief, intaglio, lithography, screen-printing, and/or hybrid and digital methods.
  • Knowledge of history, contemporary practices, and critical frameworks relevant to studio art instruction.
  • Knowledge of studio safety standards, equipment operation, materials handling, and environmentally responsible practices.
  • Knowledge of curriculum design, learning outcomes, and assessment practices in higher education.
  • Knowledge of academic policies, accreditation standards, and professional ethics related to art and design programs.
  • Ability to assess student learning and provide constructive, inclusive feedback.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Commitment to inclusive pedagogy and working with diverse student populations.
  • Organizational and time‑management skills to support teaching, service, and professional activity.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 18 graduate credit hours in an additional discipline (e.g. painting, drawing, design, art history, or art theory)
  • Demonstrated professional activity in exhibitions, publications, residences, commissions, or collaborative projects.
  • Ability to integrate contemporary theory, critical discourse, and interdisciplinary approaches into studio instruction.
  • Experience working with diverse, first‑generation, military‑affiliated, non‑traditional, or underrepresented student populations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive pedagogy and student‑centered teaching practices.
  • Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and program review.
  • Experience managing or maintaining studio facilities, equipment, and materials.
  • Engagement with community outreach, partnerships, or public‑facing programs such as exhibitions, workshops, or lectures.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards (e.g., NASAD ) and institutional compliance processes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Experience pursuing or supporting grants, fellowships, or sponsored projects.
