The primary mission of The Center for Counseling and Accessibility Services ( CCAS ) is to provide programs and outreach services to promote student engagement and assist in the emotional, psychological, physical and intellectual development of students with diverse backgrounds.
CCAS provides counseling services, accessibility accommodations, and disability support services designed to ensure equitable access to academic programs, campus facilities, and university services. Accessibility Services (AS) ensures compliance with federal and state disability laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act ( ADA ), ADA Amendments Act ( ADAAA ), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Accessibility Services coordinates reasonable accommodations, provides consultation to faculty and staff, and promotes inclusive practices that remove barriers to learning and participation for students with disabilities.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Associate Director of Accessibility Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the university’s disability services program within the Center for Counseling and Student Accessibility Services. Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director helps lead the administration, coordination, and continuous improvement of accessibility services that ensure equal educational access for students with disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act ( ADA ), ADA Amendments Act ( ADAAA ), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
This position holds primary responsibility for interpreting and applying these regulations in complex and high-risk situations, exercising independent judgment in determining reasonable accommodations that may set precedent or carry legal and institutional implications.
The Associate Director plays a central leadership role in program administration, policy development, and continuous improvement efforts. The position is responsible for shaping and advancing accessibility strategies across the institution, using data-informed approaches to assess service effectiveness, expand capacity, and align practices with best standards in higher education.

- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education Administration, Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, Disability Studies, Social Work, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field.
- Three (3 ) or more years of professional experience in student disability or accessibility services role within a higher education setting.
- Two (2 ) or more years of supervisory experience supervising professional or student staff, coordinating staff workflow, and supporting the operational management of accessibility services programs.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data related to student accommodations, service utilization, and accessibility initiatives and prepare meaningful reports for university leadership and campus partners.
- Ability to collaborate and maintain strong, positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and campus partners to support accessible learning environments and effective accommodation implementation.
- Ability to analyze complex situations involving disability accommodations, accessibility barriers, and student support needs; develop appropriate solutions; and effectively implement those solutions in accordance with institutional policies and federal regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply federal and state disability laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act ( ADA ), ADA Amendments Act ( ADAAA ), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, in determining and implementing reasonable accommodations.
- Mastery of confidentiality, privacy, and legal considerations related to student records, including compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ( FERPA ) and other applicable regulations.
- Five (5 ) or more years of professional experience in student disability or accessibility services role within a higher education setting.
- Five (5 ) or more years of supervisory experience supervising professional or student staff, coordinating staff workflow, and supporting the operational management of accessibility services programs.
