What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisory Medical Administration Specialist position at Fayetteville NC VA Medical Center?
This position, located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid Atlantic Healthcare Network (VISN 6), Fayetteville VA Medical Center (FVAMC) Health Administration Service (HAS), at the Ramsey Street Medical Center. The purpose of the position is to provide management oversight of HAS related programs and operations located at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Responsibilities:
The Supervisor Medical Administration Specialist assists the Assistant Chief for marketing, business planning, external revenue generation, insurance functions, and overall health plan management in the rapidly changing present and future health care marketplace in Fayetteville and throughout Southeast North Carolina.Duties and responsibilities listed below but not limited to:
- Serves as the technical advisor and subject matter expert to the Assistant Chief, Health Administration Services, with the authority to act independently to correct and/or make adjustments to administrative process, under critical conditions, any event that interferes or disrupts quality patient care and customer service
- Participates with other key facility staff when representing the Medical Administration Officer, Chief of Health Administration Service (HAS), as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee
- Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for employees, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system
- Provides informal feedback and evaluates employee performance. Resolves informal complaints and grievances
- Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary
- Develops, reviews, and updates Position Descriptions to ensure improvement or enrichment of duties and improvement in job satisfaction
