Responsibilities:
Patient Care
- Escort patients to exam rooms and verify patient identity
- Obtain and document vital signs
- Collect and update medical histories, medications, allergies, and pharmacy information
- Assess patient concerns and communicate relevant information to providers
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and wound care
Clinical Procedures
- Assist providers with biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and other dermatologic procedures
- Prepare and maintain sterile and procedural equipment
- Apply dressings and provide post-procedure care instructions
- Assist with specimen collection, labeling, and documentation
- Monitor and support patient comfort during procedures
Nursing & Care Coordination
- Triage patient phone calls and portal messages
- Review and respond to prescription refill requests according to office protocols
- Coordinate laboratory, pathology, and follow-up communications
- Communicate test results and provider recommendations to patients
- Assist with prior authorizations and specialty medication coordination as needed
- Collaborate with physicians and staff to ensure continuity of care
Documentation
- Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Maintain complete and timely nursing documentation
- Assist with orders, prescriptions, and patient instructions
- Ensure compliance with clinical documentation standards
Clinical Operations
- Maintain exam room readiness and clinical supplies
- Assist with inventory management and medication samples
- Participate in quality assurance and infection control activities
- Support daily clinic operations and workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Positive attitude and commitment to patient-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior outpatient, dermatology, family medicine, surgical, or specialty practice experience preferred but not required
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Interest in dermatologic patient care and procedures
