FULL TIME- Grant Funded Position

DUTIES: The Fayette County Drug and Alcohol Commission is accepting applications for a full-time, grant-funded Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) in drug and alcohol services. The CRS will serve as a mentor, role model, advocate, and source of motivation for individuals in recovery, helping to prevent relapse and support sustained, long-term wellness. This position works collaboratively with Case Management and Treatment Units, as well as community partners such as hospitals, medical providers, law enforcement, and social service agencies, to connect individuals with appropriate recovery supports.

The ideal candidate must be willing to share their personal recovery experience and demonstrate respect for each individual’s unique recovery journey. This is a mobile position requiring travel throughout the community to meet with eligible individuals as needed. Responsibilities include providing recovery education, assisting with the development and strengthening of individualized recovery plans, connecting individuals to community-based resources, and identifying crisis or emergency situations. The CRS will also help coordinate treatment referrals and facilitate timely connections to appropriate services.

Essential duties include:

  • Deliver peer-based recovery support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals considering or actively pursuing substance use recovery.
  • Build supportive relationships through active listening and empathetic, nonjudgmental communication, while demonstrating an understanding of addictive behaviors.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards by adhering to PCB Codes of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and all Council policies and procedures.
  • Proactively identify and facilitate connections to community resources—including recovery communities, educational and vocational programs, social and cultural supports, spiritual resources, mutual aid groups, and professional services—that align with the individual’s recovery goals and interests. Collaborate closely with the recovering individual, agency staff, and other key stakeholders to ensure coordinated support.
  • Support individuals in recognizing and prioritizing their strengths and needs by utilizing engagement techniques that encourage self-reflection and open communication.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project logs, reports, and documentation in designated electronic health records system in compliance with program standards.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of all information obtained through recovery support services, maintaining current knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local privacy laws and regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to recovery support services as required by Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), as well as agency required trainings.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be in recovery with at least 2 years of sustained, current recovery history.
  • If not currently certified, must be eligible to earn the Recovery Specialist certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • PA Criminal Record Check, FBI and Child Abuse Clearances are required
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Work one evening until 7PM
