This is a full-time position with benefits. This position supervises and participates in the maintenance of county grounds.

- Directs, assigns, supervises, and evaluates personnel.
- Plans projects and estimates material and labor needs.
- Coordinates activities with the county recreation department and with community and athletic associations.
- Prioritizes work schedules.
- Provides instruction and training in correct methods and procedures.
- Operates light and heavy machinery including commercial mowers, backhoes, tractors, weed eaters, blowers, and others.
- Supervises and participates in the application of herbicides and pesticides; maintains related records.
- Schedules employee training.
- Operates computers and job-related software.
- Inspects the work of ground crews and contractors.
- Determines proper fertilization requirements for sports fields and county grounds.
- Enforces safety procedures.
- Reviews and approves or disapproves new landscape plans.
- Troubleshoots irrigation problems; recommends watering schedules.
- Supervises and participates in the installation of landscaping.
- Assists in the department hiring process.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's licenses issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
