Upper School Science Teacher

Upper School Science Teacher Beginning August 2026 Description: Fay School seeks a dynamic, flexible, and creative Science Teacher who understands how to engage students in hands-on learning, foster curiosity, and inspire a lifelong love for scientific inquiry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in science education and be able to teach any upper school course, including life science, physical science, and biology. Candidates should be interested in innovatively integrating greenhouse-based, hands-on learning into the curriculum to foster students' understanding of ecology, environmental science, and sustainability. Outside the classroom, the Science Teacher is an advisor to a small group of students, coaches or assists in other afternoon programs for two terms, and participates in the residential life program as a campus resident or off-campus faculty member. This is a full-time position and is eligible for benefits. Campus housing may be available. Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, science teaching, education, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Responsibilities include: Preparing and delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons to students in grades 7-9 Effectively using technology to enhance instruction and learning Actively support and promote a school culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging. Assessing student performance and providing feedback that supports growth and development Conducting parent conferences and communicating effectively with parents and families Collaborate with colleagues in grade-level team meetings and department meetings As an advisor, serve as a primary point of contact for parents and families Engage in two trimesters of afternoon duties as assigned Performing duties to support the School’s residential life program Fay School values teachers who believe in differentiated and developmentally-aligned approaches to teaching and learning, integrate instructional technology, understand the importance of cultural competence, and are attuned to the social and emotional growth of young students. This is a salaried position. The annual salary is determined by years of teaching experience and ranges from $64,000 to $103,000.
