Position Summary
Villa Roma Resort seeks an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team in a critical role that combines strategic HR leadership with hands-on benefits and payroll administration. This position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced resort environment and can effectively manage the complexities of a seasonal workforce while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and discretion.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management for our resort, which operates with approximately 200 rotating employees and generates annual revenues of approximately $8 million. A significant portion of this role involves benefits administration and payroll management, requiring extensive knowledge of ADP WorkforceNow systems.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits and Payroll Administration (40% of role)
- Manage comprehensive benefits administration including health insurance, retirement plans, workers' compensation, and seasonal employee benefits
- Oversee all payroll processing using ADP WorkforceNow, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Administer COBRA benefits, unemployment claims, and leave management programs
- Coordinate open enrollment periods and employee benefit communications
- Maintain payroll records and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
- Process wage garnishments, tax levies, and other payroll deductions as required
Human Resources Management (40%)
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that align with resort operations and hospitality industry standards
- Manage the full employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through separation
- Coordinate recruitment efforts for seasonal positions, working closely with department managers to anticipate staffing needs
- Oversee and help conduct new employee orientations and facilitate ongoing training programs
- Handle employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, grievances, and conflict resolution
- Ensure compliance with all employment laws, regulations, and resort policies
Strategic HR Functions (20%)
- Partner with management to develop workforce planning strategies that support business objectives
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR information systems
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover data to improve retention strategies
- Support performance management processes and employee development initiatives
- Prepare HR reports and metrics for senior management review
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive human resources experience
- Extensive experience with ADP WorkforceNow system required
- Strong background in benefits administration and payroll management
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in ADP WorkforceNow platform
- Solid understanding of employment law, wage and hour regulations, and compliance requirements
- Professional writing skills with ability to create clear, concise communications and documentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
Working Conditions
This position requires full-time, on-site presence at Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon, NY. The role may require occasional evening or weekend work during peak seasons or special events. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a resort environment that experiences seasonal fluctuations in activity and staffing levels.
