Fauquier County is currently seeking a Senior Planner, with a diverse land use planning skill set, knowledge of development plan design, review and principles and the ability to manage a variety of projects. The County has a long established planning philosophy of managed growth and rural land preservation, which includes developing thriving service districts in order to promote maintaining the surrounding rural lands for active agriculture. The County also seeks to preserve environmental and historic resources while encouraging economic development. Planners are therefore involved in a great variety of challenging projects and cases. This position within the Zoning and Development Services Division of the Department of Community Development will be responsible for reviewing site development and construction plans as well as various subdivision applications; conducting reviews for a broad range of development applications, including rezonings, special exceptions, special permits, and other development plans; and providing information on zoning requirements to the public, other staff, design professionals, and elected and appointed officials. The successful applicant must be experienced in land development case coordination, reading and reviewing site and construction plans, understanding and applying ordinances and regulations, and writing and presenting comments and technical staff reports.Minimum starting salary is $61,416.74 with salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
