What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Building Plans Reviewer position at Fauquier County Government?
Fauquier County is looking for an experienced Lead Building Plans Reviewer to join our Building and Inspections team within Community Development. This is a great opportunity for someone who knows building codes, enjoys solving problems, and likes working with architects, engineers, contractors and property owners to help projects move successfully through the review and permitting process.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the senior plans reviewer and coordinate plan review activities
- Review residential and commercial plans for code compliance
- Work directly with architects, engineers, contractors and property owners
- Clearly communicate code requirements and help applicants address deficiencies
- Provide expertise across building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire, accessibility and related codes
- Assist with field inspections when needed
- Serve in place of the Building Official when necessary
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with strong experience in building construction, plans review and code enforcement.
An associate degree in architecture, building construction, engineering or a related field, along with five years of related experience, is preferred.
Virginia plans review certifications are required or must be obtained within 18 months of employment. A valid Virginia driver’s license is also required.
