What are the responsibilities and job description for the FIRE RESCUE TECHNICIAN I position at Fauquier County Government?
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: Performs responsible protective service work providing fire suppression, emergency medical care and response to hazardous materials incidents; does related work as required. Much of the work is performed under emergency conditions and frequently involves considerable personal hazard. Work is performed under regular supervision. Position is considered essential personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS: Responding to emergency fire, medical related situations and hazardous materials incidents; providing entry, suppression and rescue services; maintaining equipment and facilities; continuing training and instruction.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: General knowledge of firefighting techniques and procedures as applied to fire suppression, principles and techniques of emergency medical care; ability to learn technical firefighting principles and techniques and principles of hydraulics as applied to fire suppression; some knowledge of the street system and physical layout of the County; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from High School and some fire suppression and emergency medical experience or successful completion of designated recruit training.
