University Nurse

Faulkner University is seeking a qualified individual to serve as University Nurse. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing primary health care and nursing services in the University's student health center. This individual will also assess and treat minor illnesses and manage chronic health problems. The qualified candidate reports directly to the Dean of Students.

This is a part-time, 9-month (August - April) position working approximately 20 hours per week.

Summary Of Duties

• Provide care and treatment for minor illnesses and injuries; be available to evaluate and treat or advise on accidents and illnesses
• After evaluating illness or accident, assist where appropriate in issuing excuses for legitimate class absences
• Work with students and parents on health related issues
• Facilitate educational programs for students concerning medical and physical wellness problems
• Assure open line of communication with Resident Directors and Dean of Students; maintain a working relationship with doctor's offices in the immediate area
• Keep records of student illnesses, health forms, immunization records and give shots as needed
• Keep records of accident reports turned in by Campus Security, Resident Directors and other departments
• Maintain examination rooms, instruments, equipment and supplies
• Supervise student workers assigned to the Health Center
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required from an accredited professional school of nursing, Master's degree preferred
• Minimum of five years of general nursing and/or advance practice in an outpatient setting
• Clinical experience in either Adult or Family medicine preferred
• Must be currently licensed in the state of Alabama as a Registered Nurse
