Deli Associate/Customer Service

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook to join our new cafe. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the cafe by assisting in food preparation, ensuring quality and safety standards are met, and contributing to the overall success of our menu offerings. This position requires a passion for sandwich making and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food handling and safety. Your job would be to make traditional Italian sandwiches on our beloved focaccia bread, as well as assisting customers when needed.

Duties

• Assist in the preparation of ingredients for meals, including washing, chopping, and measuring.
• Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency in food quality.
• Build sandwiches to order. Comfortable using a meat slicer, toaster and oven.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including proper storage of food items.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.
• Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure timely meal service.
• Participate in menu planning by providing input on seasonal ingredients and dish ideas.
• Assist in training new staff on proper food handling techniques.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations.
• Experience in culinary arts or previous cooking experience in a restaurant or catering environment is preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with menu planning and dietary needs is a plus.
• Team player with strong communication skills who can collaborate well with others.
• A passion for cooking and creativity in food preparation.
• Knowledge of meat slicer and other equipment.
