About The Role
- As an Application Software Engineer specializing in COTS support, you will ensure the stability, performance, and integration of essential Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications.
- You will leverage strong technical and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex issues, deep dive into application code and databases, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams for effective solutions.
- A key expectation is to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME), understanding application functionality and architecture.
- Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Recommended: 1 year professional experience in software development, system integration, or supporting enterprise COTS applications by investigating codebases and database structures.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, Angular, React, Vue.js).
- Database management systems experience (MSSQL, ORACLE, MySQL, PostgreSQL - Microsoft SQL Server is core).
- Familiarity with Windows Server operating systems.
- Recommended: Experience with MQTT protocol, Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Familiarity with JIRA for project management, Proficiency in working with JSON data structures.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to analyze/interpret existing application codebases, logs, and database schemas.
- Familiarity with API integration (e.g., REST, SOAP) for connecting COTS applications.
- Excellent verbal/written communication.
- Work effectively in team environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (designers, product managers, vendors, engineers).
- Strong analytical/critical thinking.
- Willingness to learn new technologies/methodologies.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
