We are seeking a highly organized, professional Marine Service Manager /Service Writer to lead our daily service operations, bridge the gap between our clients and master technicians, and drive dealership efficiency.
Position Overview
As the Marine Service Manager /Service Writer, you will be the face and voice of our service department. You will manage the entire service client journey—from greeting high-end boat owners and documenting technical needs to managing daily shop workflow, processing warranty claims, and ensuring flawless final deliveries. This hybrid role demands someone who can deliver premium, white-glove customer care while simultaneously managing technician efficiency and shop profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Premium Client Concierge: Act as the primary point of contact for our clients, providing clear, proactive communication regarding their boat's status.
- Technical Diagnostics & Write-Ups: Translate client concerns regarding advanced wake systems, ballasts, electrical rigging, and inboard engines into detailed repair orders (ROs).
- Shop Workflow Management: Schedule service appointments, allocate labor to marine technicians, and optimize shop flow to minimize client downtime during the boating season.
- Estimates & Parts Coordination: Build accurate repair estimates, source specialized parts, track inventory, and secure client approvals.
- Warranty Processing: Accurately process factory warranty claims through the dealer network, ensuring strict compliance with manufacturer standards.
- Quality Assurance: Coordinate final test drives, oversee detail turnarounds, and ensure boats are returned in pristine, showroom condition.
Required Qualifications
- Industry Experience: Minimum 2 years of service writing or management experience in marine, powersports, or luxury automotive fields.
- Inboard Towboat Familiarity: Strong baseline knowledge of modern wake/ski boats, ballast networks, marine electronics, and inboard propulsion systems.
- Tech Proficiency: Experience navigating Dealership Management Software (DMS) and manufacturer service portals for parts routing and warranty logging.
- High-Level Communication: Exceptional conflict resolution skills and the ability to maintain a professional, polished demeanor during high-pressure seasonal rushes.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (ability to safely maneuver and launch towboats is a major plus).
