Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks with manual transmission across designated routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, forklift operation, or other equipment as required, ensuring cargo integrity and safety.
- Manage refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and hazardous materials (dangerous goods), following all hazardous materials regulations for secure transport.
- Utilize GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and timely deliveries while adjusting for traffic or road conditions.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor-trailer to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT standards.
- Document delivery details accurately in logs, including hours of service, cargo documentation, and delivery receipts.
- Maintain professional communication with dispatchers and clients to coordinate pickups and deliveries effectively.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL A license.
- Proficiency in driving manual transmission trucks with a strong understanding of truck handling techniques.
- Experience operating various types of trucks such as flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials handling, and safety protocols.
- Skilled in route driving using GPS navigation tools for optimal delivery efficiency.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely during load & unload operations; forklift certification is a plus.
