The Sign Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of sign manufacturing, from project intake to final delivery. This role ensures production efficiency, quality control, and on-time completion of signage projects while managing staff, equipment, and materials. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership skills with hands-on production knowledge in the signage or graphics industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the sign production department, including scheduling, workflow, and staff supervision
- Oversee the fabrication of various signage types (e.g., vinyl graphics, illuminated signs, banners)
- Ensure all products meet company quality standards and client specifications
- Coordinate with sales and design teams to review project requirements and timelines
- Maintain production schedules and ensure deadlines are consistently met
- Monitor inventory levels and order materials as needed
- Train, mentor, and evaluate production staff to maintain high performance and safety standards
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance or repairs
- Implement and enforce safety procedures and best practices
- Optimize processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in sign production or a related field
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of sign fabrication techniques, materials, and equipment (e.g., CO2 Laser, large-format printers, laminators)
- Ability to read and interpret design files and technical drawings
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Familiarity with production software and workflow systems is a plus
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with vinyl application, electrical signage, and installation processes
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and printer RIP software
- Lean manufacturing or process improvement experience
Work Environment:
- Production facility/warehouse setting
- May require standing for extended periods and lifting materials
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines
