The RoleIn-House Counsel will serve as the company’s primary legal partner, managing contracts, leases, employment law matters, and intellectual property. You’ll advise leadership, streamline internal policies, and negotiate key agreements that shape how we operate and expand.

Key Responsibilities- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, vendor, and licensing agreements.
- Advise on employment law and compliance, including hiring, workplace policy, and California/Federal labor regulations.
- Create and maintain employment and contractor agreements, company policies, and templates.
- Support HR in resolving employee relations issues and mediating disputes when needed.
- Negotiate retail leases and real estate transactions; liaise with landlords and brokers.
- Protect intellectual property through trademark and brand-asset management.
- Monitor legal and legislative updates affecting employment, real estate, and creative industries.
- Manage external counsel when specialized expertise is required.
- JD from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in California.
- 5 years of legal experience spanning employment, real estate, or business law.
- Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Clear communicator who can translate legal language into business-friendly guidance.
- Experience within creative, retail, or fashion environments preferred.
- High integrity, discretion, and ability to operate independently in a collaborative culture.
- Review, draft, and negotiate all contracts, leases, and vendor agreements.
- Advise leadership on employment law matters, including hiring, termination, workplace policies, and compliance with California and federal regulations.
- Draft and maintain employee-facing documents such as offer letters, independent-contractor agreements, and confidentiality/non-compete clauses.
- Develop internal policies and procedures related to workplace conduct, wage-and-hour compliance, and risk management.
- Support HR in handling employee disputes, investigations, and mediation when appropriate, minimizing exposure and maintaining a fair, transparent environment.
- Negotiate real-estate transactions and retail-related leases, coordinating with landlords and external brokers.
- Ensure brand and IP protection, including trademarks, licensing, and creative-asset agreements.
- Track legislative and case-law changes in employment, real estate, and fashion industries.
- Manage relationships with external counsel and ensure cost-effective use of outside resources.
- Provide practical, business-focused legal advice to leadership and department heads.
