Fashion Private
Los Angeles, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 11/8/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/7/2025
About Us

Our company is a multidisciplinary fashion agency operating at the intersection of design, retail, real estate, and culture. We create, launch, strategize and manage lifestyle and apparel concepts—while advising and building retail experiences for brands.

We’re expanding our footprint and internal team, and we’re seeking a business-savvy attorney who brings sharp legal insight to a fast-moving creative environment. This role ensures our growth—across real estate, fashion, and employment—is built on a strong, ethical, and compliant foundation.

The Role

In-House Counsel will serve as the company’s primary legal partner, managing contracts, leases, employment law matters, and intellectual property. You’ll advise leadership, streamline internal policies, and negotiate key agreements that shape how we operate and expand.

You’ll have a direct impact on how our creative business grows—protecting the brand, the people, and the partnerships that make it thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, vendor, and licensing agreements.
  • Advise on employment law and compliance, including hiring, workplace policy, and California/Federal labor regulations.
  • Create and maintain employment and contractor agreements, company policies, and templates.
  • Support HR in resolving employee relations issues and mediating disputes when needed.
  • Negotiate retail leases and real estate transactions; liaise with landlords and brokers.
  • Protect intellectual property through trademark and brand-asset management.
  • Monitor legal and legislative updates affecting employment, real estate, and creative industries.
  • Manage external counsel when specialized expertise is required.
Qualifications
  • JD from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in California.
  • 5 years of legal experience spanning employment, real estate, or business law.
  • Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Clear communicator who can translate legal language into business-friendly guidance.
  • Experience within creative, retail, or fashion environments preferred.
  • High integrity, discretion, and ability to operate independently in a collaborative culture.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review, draft, and negotiate all contracts, leases, and vendor agreements.
  • Advise leadership on employment law matters, including hiring, termination, workplace policies, and compliance with California and federal regulations.
  • Draft and maintain employee-facing documents such as offer letters, independent-contractor agreements, and confidentiality/non-compete clauses.
  • Develop internal policies and procedures related to workplace conduct, wage-and-hour compliance, and risk management.
  • Support HR in handling employee disputes, investigations, and mediation when appropriate, minimizing exposure and maintaining a fair, transparent environment.
  • Negotiate real-estate transactions and retail-related leases, coordinating with landlords and external brokers.
  • Ensure brand and IP protection, including trademarks, licensing, and creative-asset agreements.
  • Track legislative and case-law changes in employment, real estate, and fashion industries.
  • Manage relationships with external counsel and ensure cost-effective use of outside resources.
  • Provide practical, business-focused legal advice to leadership and department heads.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us
  • Join a visionary team shaping the future of fashion and branded retail.
  • Partner directly with leadership and influence key business decisions.
  • Competitive compensation and flexible, creative work environment.
  • Opportunity to build the company’s legal framework and policies from the ground up.
