Your Role
As a member of Farrell Roofing’s operations leadership staff, you are very important to the success of our branches and our company. Operations leadership staff make sure that our projects are completed on time, within budget, and that they meet our safety and quality standards. Additionally, operations leadership staff provide direction and information to other operations employees and set the tone for efficient completion of a project. The Service Department is often a customer’s first introduction or experience with our company. The Service Manager plays a key role in ensuring that the customer experience is a pleasant one. As a member of the operations leadership team, occupants of this role will be detail-oriented and will be committed to our values of safety, quality, happy customer, and on budget.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities will include:
Personnel Management:
- Recruiting a dependable and knowledgeable maintenance workforce with the help of the Human Resources and Payroll Department.
- Coordinating coaching and disciplinary action for Service Department employees as needed.
- Determining training needs for repair technicians; organizing needed training in safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in monthly calls with the Human Resources and Payroll department to discuss staffing needs and employee performance.
- Teaching everyday general roofing best practices, including the following:
- Customer service relations
- Roof investigation and inspection techniques
- Working with the Human Resources and Payroll Department to coordinate termination of employment for employees as needed.
- Enforcing and following company policies and practices.
Project Management:
- Performing all activities related to service call management: project creation, dispatching, scheduling, work order and project information flow, documentation, billings, collections, customer satisfaction, and follow-up.
- Meeting regularly with repair technicians to review the previous and next day’s activities.
- Determining material needs for service projects and submitting to purchasing.
- Reviewing design requirements, codes, and materials.
- Ensuring service crews are adhering to OSHA and company safety regulations.
- Identifying situation-specific safety needs.
- Completing and submitting accident and injury reports.
- Complying with all safety policies and procedures, being an example, and supporting the company's safety goals and objectives.
- Learning and teaching safety procedures, safety equipment, and materials.
- Reviewing timecards and materials invoices for projects.
- Ensure regular completion of Toolbox Talks.
- Reviewing, submitting, and giving final approval to Accounts Receivable/Billing for all service projects.
- Monitoring projects with respect to status, time, and materials.
- Scheduling and coordinating all repair work, including assigning manpower and vehicles.
- Completing Material Transfer Orders (MTOs) to document movement of materials from inventory to job, job to job, or from job to inventory.
- Ensuring that repairs comply with warranty specifications and arranging for the completion of punch list items.
Department Management
- Attending all branch meetings as requested by the Branch Manager.
- Ensuring service vehicles, equipment, and employees present a clean and professional image.
- Maintaining an inventory of service materials.
- Keeping branch manager informed about significant problems and sales opportunities.
- Preparing operating reports such as time and attendance records, terminations, new hires, transfers, budget expenditures, and statistical records of performance data.
- Managing department finances, including budgets and project invoicing.
- Documenting project discrepancy between budget and actual.
- Reviewing and analyzing budget reports.
- Preparing and developing budget modifications and recommendations.
- Studying methods of improving work measurements and performance standards.
- Customer Outreach and Service
- Handling customer relationships for all service work.
- Making sales presentations to prospective customers.
- Reaching out to former and potential customers about roof repair needs and the Preventative Maintenance Program.
- Affirming jobs are completed to the quality level promised.
- Maintaining communication with clients throughout the duration of the project and following completion of the project.
Estimating/Quoting
- Creating and submitting cost estimates /proposals at customer request for service, maintenance work, and curb work. Large Roof Replacement projects or reroofing will be estimated by the Corporate Estimating Department

Desired Skills and Experience:
- Five (5) years of roofing production and supervision experience preferred.
- English fluency.
- Safety training: OSHA 30-hour card.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to use/learn business technology, including the service software FCS.
- Interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations; this position requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy

- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to all branch locations occasionally.
